Most Christian women today are searching for that man who loves the Lord, with
all his might, who would do anything for his wife, and who has an incredibly
nice build (for good hugs of course). But, what kind of women are these men
looking for and better yet, what kind of women should we be striving to be?
By taking a quick glance at Proverbs 31, we can immediately see that women need to fear the Lord as much as men do. According to Paul Cox, a national speaker for Campus Crusade for Christ, when we are involved in a relationship, each person needs to be "independently dependent on God." This means that although we may look to the male for leadership as he is the one held accountable to God for his family. Women too must have a strong, committed relationship with the Lord. Women need to daily seek the Lord's ways and follow His word in order to keep the Holy Spirit alive in them. In this way, a woman can encourage her mate and keep her own faith strong. Are you daily seeking the Lord's guidance in your life? We also want a man who would lay down his life for us. Are we willing to do that for our husband/potential mate? Are we willing to sacrifice our own needs for the betterment of another? This doesn't have to be a boyfriend, but even a good friend. Do we look to do what makes them happy or simply what makes ourselves happy? Above all we need to remember that it is what is on the inside that counts. Proverbs 31 mentions nothing about outward beauty, only inner qualities concern for others, our skills, and most of all the love of Christ inside of us. We want to be sure to radiate Christ in all that we do and say. If the man is submissive to Christ, then he will try to the best of his ability to love us for who we are and to encourage us in the Lord, not to love us for how we appear.
