Crappies do best in large lakes where there is a lot of food. But if you have a small pond crappies can do well if they get minnows and insects to eat. Sometimes crappie can be trained to eat fish food. But this is usually sinking type fish food.
Some crappies get over 25 inches, but most reach 10-12 inches. We can usually only stock crappie before April 20th and after September. Due to their sensitivity to heat it is difficult to transport them in the summer months.
The crappie we sell are black crappies and the one shown above is the 2-3 inch size.
