010104 Ansel Toney Kite Festival Info
Dear
Kite friends,
You may have heard that there will no longer be sport kite competition at the Ansel Toney Kite Festival in 2004, and that is unfortunately true. But the good news is that Hoosier Kitefliers Society will still run ATKF as a one-day event at the Academy of Model Aeronautics in Muncie, Indiana on the first Saturday of May in 2004. It will, again, be a National Kite Month event and will still be the all around great kite festival for both single and multiple line aficianados. For the sortkite fliers, we will feature a roped off sport kite area and it will be the location for an all day "hands on" forum for "pilots" and will help them learn more about the things they love like tricks, team flying and competition. The AMA is a magnificent place to fly with so much room you'll never hunger for a perfect kite flying area again. The AMA have been fantastic to kite fliers and we are extremely lucky to be able to continue the Ansel Toney event at that location.
The decision to discontinue the competition was caused by many factors, but mainly the decision was based on the dwindling attendance of participants in the competition over the 3 years that we tried it. Our hope is that our absence will ultimately help to bolster attendance at other midwest region SKCs. We hope you'll continue to support and attend the other great competitions out there. It is possible that ATKF will offer it again in the future, but for 2004 it is official - no ATKF SKC until further notice.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at this year's events.
