Message to 2008 Lotus Festival Volunteers

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Lotus Festival. Established in 1994, the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival has become one of Bloomington’s largest, most beloved cultural events and is the only festival of its kind in the state of Indiana. It is organized and administered by a small staff and by hundreds of volunteers, like you!

The 15th annual Lotus Festival takes place Thursday, October 2 through Sunday, October 5, 2008. Volunteers are crucial to the success of every Lotus Festival. Therefore, it is important that volunteers commit to their assigned shift(s). In exchange for that commitment, you ensure the smooth operation of a wonderful event, and you are able to attend the festival on Friday or Saturday night. You will also receive a button and t-shirt and that proudly mark you as a Lotus volunteer.

Please check Important Dates for this year's festival. This year, for the first time we are offering an online volunteer application for the Lotus Festival. Please review the Lotus Festival Volunteer Policy, Volunteer Positions, and Frequently Asked Questions before submitting a volunteer application. We want to be certain that you have thoroughly reviewed our information about the exchange between the volunteers and the Festival, including job descriptions and expectations.

Apply online here. You can also call our office and have an application mailed to you. The first round deadline for applications is August 25, 2008. Applications will be accepted after this deadline, but will not receive first consideration for shift assignments. You will be notified via e-mail or phone of your shift assignment(s) in early September and asked to reply with a confirmation that you received your assignment.

All volunteers are required to attend a job-specific orientation on either Saturday morning, September 20 or Thursday evening, September 25.
