Berlin, Germany

The Kaiser-Wilhelm Memorial Church was mostly destroyed during WWII. A small piece of it has been restored. Inside the church, they show pictures of the church and the area before the war. They also show the complete destruction that surrounded the church after the war.

The Branderburg Gate, a symbol of Berlin, was designed as a triumphal arch for King Fredrick Wilhelm II in 1791.

A preserved piece of the Berlin Wall. I even bought my own miniscule piece of the Berlin Wall....or maybe I bought a piece of someone's garden wall.

The Checkpoint Charlie Museum was a fascinating place to visit. The walls were covered with stories of daring escapes, demonstrations, and history. The museum also housed some vehicles with hidden compartments. The lengths people took to escape showed just how desperate they were.
