2 pm. I was thrilled to say the least.
Marine Corporal Miles M. Oviatt of Olean, New York (Cattaraugus County) was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions at Mobile Bay under Admiral David Farragut. White Mane Publishing has released my book on my great-grandfather's Civil War diaries. Civil war diaries are commonplace, but this book is unusual since it details the day-to-day adventures of a fighting marine engaged in intercepting blockade runners on the high seas.
