2 pm. I was thrilled to say the least.
- A Civil War Marine at
Sea now published by a major Civil War house.
Marine Corporal Miles M. Oviatt of Olean, New York
(Cattaraugus County) was awarded the
Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions at Mobile Bay under
Admiral David Farragut. White Mane Publishing has
released my book on my great-grandfather's Civil War diaries.
Civil war diaries are commonplace, but this book is unusual since it details the
day-to-day adventures of a fighting marine engaged in intercepting blockade
runners on the high seas. I have included analysis, end notes,
biographical and genealogical information, as well as a mentioned person list,
mentioned ship list, and a complete index.
David M. Sullivan, author of The United States Marine Corps in the Civil War
series, has reviewed my book and has pronounced
it "a must read for scholar, student, or buff."
A good link to the recipients of the Medal
of Honor is found [ H E R E ]
including additional info on Miles' action.
My biography of Miles is
[ H E R E ].

RIVER - Portville to Cincinnati, Diary of 1868.
I have brought to life this diary of the river-woman (great-great aunt),
Sarah Antoinette Crandall Barber by thoroughly exploring the background info.
Discover this 1868 role and odyssey of the
wife of a log raft pilot cruising the Allegany and the Ohio Rivers. The
complete voyage from Portville, NY to Cincinnati, OH is fully illustrated

- THE AUTOISTS ADVENTURE
In the first decade of the Twentieth Century, this
autoists clique built a social entity around their fancy
cars. The descendants of the Coatesville, Pennsylvania families of
Gordon, Moore, Rambo, Speakman, Walton, and Young may be interested in the
risky activities of their automobile-torturing ancestors. Others may
want them off the road when they hear their story!!!
See the picture of these supposedly elite AUTOISTS
from old Coatesville. They were among the first to own
automobiles in their town. Mail order: $5.50 + $2 s&h
