An Ounce Worth Infinitely More Than a Pound

We all know that prevention is worth so much more to our health than is the cure for any and all diseases or ailments but few of us really live like we know that it is worth so much. The best way to deal any ailment or with the flu season when it arrives is be prepared for it by keeping our immune systems strong and we need to make conscious efforts every day to this end.

Keeping the following health principles in mind is the first step, the next step is to begin implementing them in our lives. We can strengthen our immune system by  1) drinking plenty of pure water  2) eating wholesome foods (especially the Bread of Life)  3) exercising  4) practicing moderation and temperance  5) getting out in the sunshine every day if possible  6) practicing deep breathing both physically and spiritually (prayer is the breath of the soul)  7) reducing stress through the true practical faith which leads to the proper sleep and rest which is when and where the natural healing for all ailments occurs  8) having an attitude of gratitude -- praising and thanking God always!

I am not perfect in the above, but since I am one of those 40 million Americans that cannot afford health insurance, I have tried to always remember that I cannot afford to forget the above Godly principles of good health. I would rather be diligent in following these principles and trusting my health and life to God than working myself sick just to have health insurance or worrying myself to death because I don't have any.

In addition to the eight natural doctors listed above that are available at any and all times to make a house call, the following is more specific information you can apply at home to help prevent the flu and alleviate flu symptoms (taken from the Prescription for Nutritional Healing by James F. Balch, M.D. and Phyllis A. Balch, CNC) :

+ Consume plenty of fluids, especially fresh juices, herbal teas, soups, and quality water to prevent
   dehydration and help flush out the body.

+ Get sufficient sleep and rest as much as possible.

+ Fever is one of the body's major defense mechanisms against the flu. Flu viruses do not survive well in
   a warmer environment. If you have a fever do not try to suppress it unless it is over 103 degrees F.

+ Echinacea, Goldenseal, Elderberry and Pau D'arco are good against influenza. Caution: Do not take
   Goldenseal internally on a daily basis for more than one week at a time, do not use it during pregnancy,
   and use it with caution if you are allergic to ragweed.

+ Cayenne (Capsicum) helps to keep mucus flowing, aiding in preventing congestion and headaches.
   Simply add a bit of Cayenne powder to soups and other foods.

+ Elderberry has antiviral properties and reduces flu symptoms.

+ Take Activated Charcoal at the first sign of flu symptoms.

I personally have experienced much benefit from Activated Charcoal in alleviating flu symptoms and shortening its duration.
