A Gallery specializing in 19th
and 20th century
Indiana and Brown County Fine Art
Davis
Fine Art Gallery is located in the hills of Brown
County,
Indiana where the historic Brown County Art Colony was
established
in the early 1900's. In 1907 Theodore Clement Steele built
his home
and studio in Brown County which has been preserved as a
State
Historical Site. Adolph Robert Shulz traveled here by horse
and buggy
in 1900 and in 1907 made Nashville his home. He would
inspire a
group of highly trained artists to follow, forming an art
colony that rivaled
those of Sante Fe, Carmel, Old Lyme and New Hope.
As
art historians we are continuously inspired by the spirit
and history
of our Art Colony of the Midwest. The market for and
investment
value of Hoosier Group and Brown county artists' works
has
experienced astounding growth during the past fifteen years.
The works
we represent are reflections of the beauty, spirit, and
historical
signifignance of this region.
